TIPS FOR A GREAT TIME

It's gonna be hot so bring a water bottle and remember to slip slop slap slay

FREE FOOD, there is free food everywhere during O-WEEK so eat up and get some energy for some big days

Explore, it's a big University and during O-WEEK it's filled with stalls, people, music, entertainment and the aforementioned food

Ask anyone anything anywhere, we are all pretty friendly at Monash, if you have a question or are lost just ask .

Join as many Clubs as possible (They give cool membership perks and packages)

Don't overdo it, there are parties every night and full on days, make sure not to burn yourself out before uni even starts. It's ok to take a break and not go to every single thing

MEET OTHER FIRST YEARS, don't worry they are all just as new and lost as you are. Just walk up to people are introduce yourself. The best place to do this is at events but you can do it anywhere

Start off O-WEEK with a little welcome from the dean and our MESS execs. The MESS team are ALWAYS available for questions or just a chat, but if you want an official Q&A to hear what other first years are asking then this is the way to do it.

FaME TOURS
If you have been checking your emails you know that FaME (Friends and Mentors in Eng) is a group mentorship program for first year engineers. In these tours you meet your mentor who will show your group around campus. This is a great way to meet some other first years, make some friends and learn a little of what to expect at Monash from your mentor/guru. Also FREE DONUTS

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT COMMON FIRST YEAR
A faculty run seminar that explores the structure of first year. You will get to see some of the Professors and other staff members who will be guiding you through the year and learn how this year will set you up to choose your specialisation .

ENGINEERING STUDENT TEAMS PRESENTATION
Interested in who or what Engineering teams are? In this session you will get to hear from all the Engineering teams, They will discuss who they are, what they do, how to join and more. Our Teams are the pride of Engineering at Monash, offering interesting ways of putting your technical knowledge to practical use.

Meet the Dean of Engineering, female academics, representatives from MESS, WEM (Women in Engineering at Monash), Robogals and EWB (Engineers Without Borders) . Lunch will be provided. Women are underrepresented in STEM so this is a great way to network and meet other like-minded students over lunch.

Celebrate the start of your university semester with the free Monash Block Party Watch live performances by Tones And I, as well as Confidence Man! Expect the lot from this music festival: pop-up bars, food trucks, silent movies, and other acts around the venue.

MESS CAMP
If there's one thing to do before Uni starts, it's MESS camp. Join 130 other first years for what is easily the best weekend of the year . This is THE BEST way to make friends before you even set foot into your first class. There will be partying, optional drinking, games and many other activities for a guaranteed killer weekend.
