MESS Academic

The MESS Academic Portfolio endeavour to provide our members with quality educational resources, tips and advocacy to enhance their engagement and understanding of the university curriculum. Whether it is through additional study materials or providing an avenue to provide feedback, this support undoubtedly improves the results of our members.

We deliver support to first-year Monash Engineering students, through the Friends and Mentors in Engineering (FaME) program and the MESS First Years’ Facebook Group. In doing so, we hope to ease the transition between high school and university, making tertiary studies less stressful! At the same time, we strive to create educational resources that simplify and excel the academic performance of our members while providing systems for student advocacy.

Should you have any questions, please contact our Academic Director, Will Myers: will.myers@mess.org.au

FRIENDS and MENTORS in ENGINEERING (FaME)

Friends and Mentors in Engineering (FaME) is a group mentoring program that seeks to ease the transition to university, helping first-year engineering students make genuine friendships and providing avenues of support throughout the year.

Meetups and activities with individual groups are organised by mentors and there will also be events where the whole program gets together (e.g. scavenger hunt, trivia night etc.).

FaME can provide you with the opportunity to participate in a worthwhile extra-curricular program that offers personal and career-related benefits. All second year and above engineering students are welcome to apply.
